and Welcome to 2012
Liz and her staff wish you and your family good health and much happiness in 2012. We wish to thank you for your loyal support of Cathy Allan’s in 2011 and we look forward to continuing to serve you in the new year. May you always make the right moves !
New Year’s Resolutions
The tradition of the New Year's Resolutions goes all
the way back to 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was
placed at the head of the calendar. With two faces, Janus became the
ancient symbol for resolutions because he had two faces that could
look to the past and into the future. Many Romans looked for
forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the
beginning of each year.
Today we make New Year's Resolutions to try to improve some aspect of ourselves in the coming year. We vow to lose or gain weight, spend some more quality time with our spouse and children, get strong and buff, and we are even ready to quit smoking or drinking in order to become healthier. All these goals look so good on paper but they seem completely unattainable in practice.. In fact, a recent study found that 22% of people give up on their resolution in the first week and by the end of March more than half of New Year's resolvers have fallen off the bandwagon.
So let’s put all seriousness aside and read “carefully” these silly, hilarious or just funny New Year’s resolutions that might make you laugh. If we can’t put them into practice we can at least joke around instead. Laughter can really be the best medicine at times, even when you’re facing challenges and want to make great changes happen.
1. I resolve to always replace the gas nozzle before driving away from the pump. 2. I will start buying lottery tickets at a luckier store. 3. I will no longer waste my time reliving the past. Instead I will spend it worrying about the future. 4. I will stop procrastinating ( I think I might start next month or maybe the month after that ). 5. I will drive to the fitness centre next time I feel like going because walking there makes me perspire. 6. I will try to figure out why I need 9 e-mail addresses. 7. I will think of a password other than “ password”. 8. I will give up chocolates totally. 100% Completely... Honestly. 9. I resolve to visit Cathy Allan Ladieswear once every week!!!!! 10. I resolve to clean out my clothes closet as soon as I purchase my new spring wardrobe!!!

The Quote of
January
"To read a poem in January is as lovely as to go for a walk in June."'tis the season for staying inside with a good book. (or freezing your face off going out to take pictures in the snow) - Jean-Paul Sartre
The garnet is associated - purity, truth, faithfulness and friendship
The general meaning of the Carnation is love, fascination, and distinction |
