We are celebrating Women In Business in our beautiful Downtown Lindsay!
Amanda Secord opened “Between the Bread – Eatery & Market” in November of 2018. She had food hospitality experience working in the restaurant industry for a few years, but with a young family she wanted to make a change to be closer to her family. This is a concern that many women face when they are moms in the work force. Starting her own business, enabled her to meet those needs. She did her research and created an environment that is unique to Lindsay. “Between the Bread – Eatery & Market” was founded which is not only a restaurant, but a market, showcasing work of local artists and artisans, hence the name. Plus, she doesn’t charge these people to display their work but they can sell their items on consignment.
The ambitious female entrepreneur didn’t stop there. Being a mother, who knows the local community and what we need, she created a play area for children, making her restaurant a true family restaurant. If the kids finish their meal in 2 minutes, they can enjoy themselves playing while mom and dad finish their meal!
Amanda is always thinking and started a promotion at the restaurant for families that coordinated with our local movie theatre’s (Century 3 Cinemas) “Toonie Morning Shows” that they offer in the summer for families. You keep your ticket stub from the movies and come in to eat at her restaurant, getting a kid’s meal for only $2 with the purchase of an adult meal! She is a smart and savvy entrepreneur!
Amanda’s menu consists of true comfort food, from gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches made in a variety of delicious ways, to pitas, salads and homemade soups made fresh daily. She wanted to make food that patrons, especially families, can enjoy that is delicious and fast but not “fast food”. You can feel good about the choices you made eating there!
Also, Between the Bread hosts private events and catering whether business, private, social, lunch, dinner or fundraiser. Call 705-880-9866 (YUMM). Some events are parties, “paint nites” and workshops. The restaurant is a great place to book your kids’ next birthday party, for example. Here are some upcoming workshops: a Kids Hallowe’en Party for preschoolers, during the day, on Hallowe’en; rock painting for The Lindsay Rock Hunt; just to name a couple.
Amanda Secord has done so many things for our Lindsay community in the short time she opened her business, and we are so lucky to have her in our downtown!
Thank you, Amanda, for being an inspiration for our up-and-coming female entrepreneurs, especially mothers, who can see that you can work and maintain a healthy family lifestyle!
